DNTDs Issues Statement on the Coalition Agreement for Mainstreaming Health

Berlin. February 26, 2018 – The German Network Against Neglected Tropical Diseases DNTDs has published its opinion on the government’s coalition agreement. A joint effort between of the center-left SPD and the center-right CDU/CSU parties, the coalition contract had been worked out early February and distributed to party spokespersons and selected parliamentarians. The DNTDs generally welcomed the government’s plans to provide more finances for development cooperation, and appealed that combating neglected tropical diseases be given a more prominent role. This included strengthening the World Health Organization WHO, collaborating in the development of medicines and vaccines, as well as taking health aspects into consideration in related developmental measures such as nutrition and rural growth, it stated further.
